Component

One of the three spatial components of the seismic motion.

The two horizontal components, orthogonal to each other, are traditionally denoted by N (North-South) and E (East-West).

The Vertical component is denoted by Z.

The waveform components can be oriented not only according to the the traditional North-South, East-West, and Vertical orientations (see SEED_manual, p.134 )
