Term Definition
Seismic Sequence

The seismic sequence is a series of earthquakes which occur in the same region at close intervals of time.

Typically a seismic sequence consists of a strong and severe seismic event (mainshock), possibly anticipated by a series of minor earthquakes (foreshocks), and always followed by many events of lower intensity (aftershocks).
